We welcome the Victorian Government’s announcement of funding for the safety upgrade and repair of Brighton Pier and look forward to similarly good news on Sandringham Harbour (Hampton) and Half Moon Bay piers.
The works will form part of the Victorian Government’s Better Piers and Waterside Facilities program. The Program will create vital new jobs as the state rebuilds from the COVID-19 pandemic and will provide a long term boost for the fishing, aquaculture and tourism industries.
We look forward to learning more details on the works and the timeline for the reopening of Brighton Pier.
Council is continuing to advocate to Parks Victoria for a clear plan for the repair and reopening of the piers at Sandringham Harbour (Hampton) and Half Moon Bay. These piers are important community assets which must be reopened as soon as possible.
