The Hodgman Liberal Government must work with the owners of the Henty Gold Mine on Tasmania’s West Coast to assist employees who will lose their jobs.
Shadow Minister for Regional Development and Small Business, Anita Dow, said 10 employees were to lose their jobs as the owners PYBAR searches for new ore deposits.
“Our thoughts are with those employees and their families as the Henty workforce enters a time of instability,” Ms Dow said.
“We recognise the importance of the mining sector to the regional economy and the Government must now work with PYBAR to support those workers to find other employment locally or across Tasmania.”
