The countdown to High Voltage is on, with just one week to go until the Hells Bells toll and a stellar line-up of Australian musicians celebrate Bon Scott and electrify the streets of Fremantle.
High Voltage is a free one-day rock and roll event, with Australian musicians and artists performing their own unique cover versions of hits made famous by legendary AC/DC singer and Fremantle local Bon Scott, plus their own powerhouse originals.
Performances will tour the heart of Fremantle as part of a roving festival circuit, from the back of trucks that have been converted into mobile stages, with the procession to pass through three stationary music zones across the port city and in South Fremantle.
The star-studded line-up includes Diesel, Katy Steele, Body Type, Eddie Perfect, Cash Savage and the Last Drinks, Dan Sultan, Natalie Gillespie and the Southern River Band.
Fremantle Oval will be the venue for all music fans, where great musical acts will ‘power up’ on the ground to a fanfare of pipers, flames and Bon Scott-inspired energy to entertain the crowd both before and after the trucks depart on their street circuit.
From Fremantle Oval, the trucks will head down the popular South Terrace strip towards Wilson Park at South Beach, the second music zone which will feature indie music artists and allow fans to enjoy the ultimate beachside Sunday afternoon while soaking up the ambience of the 70’s era of Bon Scott.
The trucks then go up Marine Parade before looping around Esplanade Reserve, past the Bon Scott statue, on their way back to Fremantle Oval. The Esplanade Reserve is the festivals’ third music zone for the youngest fans and their families, hosting a range of supercharged family-friendly activities and music to energise audiences of all ages.
Thousands are expected to flock to this free celebration of music, community and the spirit of Bon Scott, which is intended to become a major annual tourism event.
High Voltage is a homegrown, State-owned event delivered by Tourism WA and produced by Perth Festival’s new out-of-season Special Projects arm.
