The Grampians region was again on show with the 2019 edition of Grampians Grape Escape bringing thousands of visitors and locals to the foothills of Mount William at the Halls Gap Recreation Reserve over the weekend.
It’s reported that over 6,000 people came through the gates on the Saturday alone, sampling the best wine and food the region has to offer from over 120 stalls, along with a full book of live entertainment from music and masterclasses to hands on workshops and activities for kids.
The overcast weather was not enough to keep people away from the now world famous event, after it was ranked last year among the top 14 food and wine festivals in the world by American Express Essentials.
South West Ward Councillor, Jason Hosemans said, “The early figures show that attendance was up around 20% on last year, and from the online ticket sales we can see that at least 40% of the attendees were first time visitors to the Grampians region.”
“It is a fantastic day out and such a great showcase for our region, and I heard a lot of comments saying how kid-friendly the festival is given all the kids activities and entertainment on offer.”
“The organisers are to be congratulated for creating an event that truly is for people of all ages.”
The event again pulled in some notable chefs, restaurateurs and TV personalities such as Colin Fassnidge, Sarah Glover and Emmylou MacCarthy who wowed and entertained the masses, once again showcasing the growth of event which has become a must-attend event for any food and wine lover.
