We’re making plans for the next stage of works along the Grand Pacific Walk and want to hear what you think about our proposal for a new section in Clifton.
This proposed pathway involves the construction of a 2.5m wide shared path and a new viewing platform along the eastern side of Lawrence Hargrave Drive just south of Moronga Park, which will complete the Clifton section of the Grand Pacific Walk.
Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said that Council is now calling for community feedback on the proposed concept plan.
“Whether you love to ride your bike or enjoy a walk along the coastline, Council wants to hear your thoughts on the next steps of the proposed works along the Grand Pacific Walk.”
“The Grand Pacific Walk is an ongoing project that aims to link the southern end of the Royal ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Park to Lake Illawarra. The proposed path along the Clifton section of the walk will link existing footpaths and improve access for both cyclists and pedestrians who share the space.”
The new section of path will run between the existing footpath at Moronga Park to the existing footpath adjacent to number 347 Lawrence Hargrave Drive.
An Environmental Impact Statement is currently being undertaken, which requires an ecological investigation to assess the impact of the proposed path to existing vegetation.
“This is one of the most constrained sections along the Grand Pacific Walk with Lawrence Hargrave Drive located closely on the western side. Sections of this proposed pathway will need to be constructed under traffic control which could cause some minor traffic delays during construction.
