Organisations operating in the climate-ready space are invited to apply to collaborate with the City of Casey and receive funding through Council’s Climate Action Living Lab grant.
Over the coming months, the City of Casey is rolling out its Climate Action Living Lab, an initiative which aims to test innovative solutions for climate action, to ensure the Casey community and environment is resilient to the impacts of climate risks.
City of Casey Chair of Administrators Noelene Duff PSM said that the power of collaboration and innovation can revolutionise how the city mitigates climate risks.
“With a commitment to promoting safety from extreme weather, protecting biodiversity, and increasing renewable energy, the Climate Action Living Lab holds the potential to contribute toward a climate resilient future that benefits all residents.
“We encourage businesses, not-for-profit organisations, and research institutions to participate by applying for the grant,” said Noelene.
Aligned with community priorities identified via two 2020 community surveys and the City of Casey Climate Action Plan, the Climate Action Living Lab focuses on three areas: safety and climate resilience, sustainability and biodiversity, and renewable energy.
Focused on community preparedness to respond to and recover from extreme weather events, the Climate Action Living Lab aims to harness the collective expertise of a range of partners to address climate challenges for a safer, more sustainable future in Casey.
The Living Lab concept is about engaging the community, conducting research, and testing innovative solutions. By participating, organisations have an opportunity to collaborate in a private-public partnership model, working with Council and the community to find effective solutions.
