61 projects will share in $24 million funding to better protect populations of 73 threatened plants and animals prioritised in our .
The priority species grant opportunity under the Saving Native Species program was launched on 27 July 2023 and closed on 7 September 2023. We received 261 applications seeking more than $96 million in grant funding.
The grants support the delivery of the which provides $224.5 million over four years to support the recovery of our unique plants and animals.
The successful recipients will assist 73 priority species and involve on-ground activities including:
- fire management
- predator control
- habitat restoration
- seed collection and propagation, translocation
- surveys
- monitoring
- education.
Many of these projects will also benefit other threatened species that share the same habitat.
