The Make It Happen grants program is back for 2023, providing funding to support community groups and organisations across Hobsons Bay.
More than $500,000 is available and will be distributed in three rounds.
The first round opened for applications on February 1 and will close on February 28. Round 2 will be open from March 1-28 and Round 3 from March 29-May 2.
Residents can apply for grants for:
- Equipment and resources (up to $1,500). Toyota Australia has generously contributed $30,000 to this category;
- Community projects (up to $25,000); and
- Events and festivals (up to $25,000).
Make It Happen grants can provide financial support for activities, projects, programs, events and resources. They can benefit all sectors, including environment, sustainability, projects by and for young people, sport and recreation, arts and culture, health and wellbeing, multicultural, technology, community and neighbourhood development.
Council offers advice on how to write a successful grant application, as well as information sessions and grant writing workshops, both online and in-person.
“I love hearing the stories of what our community has been able to achieve because of Council’s Make It Happen grants. It shows what a significant program it is and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes out of it this year,” Mayor of Hobsons Bay, Cr Tony Briffa.
“Over the years these grants have made an incredible contribution to our community. They can help bring people together, make their lives better, or fill a need in the community.
“Our community groups and organisations are integral parts of Hobsons Bay and this is one of the ways Council can support those wonderful groups.”
