Grants to help local health and medical life sciences companies gain quality certifications

  • McGowan Government to help local health and life sciences companies gain third-party ISO quality certifications
  • Grants of up to $20,000 available for eligible WA companies
  • The Local Capability Fund grants are from the WA Government’s $8.65 million funding to support the WA Health and Medical Life Sciences Industry Strategy

Local health and medical life sciences companies are being supported by the WA Government to gain internationally recognised third-party quality certifications.

Grants of up to $20,000 will be made available to eligible businesses to attain relevant ISO certifications.

The two different standards are ISO 9001, which relates to quality management, and ISO 13485:2016, which is specific to the management of medical devices.

This round of Local Capability Fund grants is part of the WA Government’s $8.65 million commitment to support the implementation of the WA Health and Medical Life Sciences Industry Strategy.

The objective of the LCF is to provide small and medium-sized enterprises with funding support to enhance their capacity, capability and competitiveness to supply major projects and markets in Australia and overseas.

The Health and Medical Life Sciences LCF round will open at 9am (AWST) on Monday, 23 January and close at 5pm (AWST) on Tuesday, 7 March 2023.

“WA’s burgeoning health and medical life sciences sector is internationally recognised for its ground-breaking innovation, with many companies on the cusp of attaining internationally recognised certifications.

“The WA Government is directly supporting eligible companies to gain these important certifications with grants of up to $20,000, which will certify the quality assurance of local products and improve the sector as a whole.

“Internationally recognised, third-party quality certifications are a significant undertaking for health and medical life sciences companies, and are vital to the future growth of these businesses on the global stage.”
