Vic Department of Transport

The Victorian Government is giving community groups across Victoria the chance to receive grants of up to $30,000 to address local road safety issues.

Community groups are encouraged to apply for the funding as part of the .

The program gives not-for-profit groups the opportunity to work closely with locals to identify road safety issues in their area and implement solutions, by coming up with a project to overcome it.

The program covers a wide range of road safety issues, including speed limit, drink driving and education, as well as pedestrian, motorcyclist and cyclist safety.

Previous projects funded under the program included lower speed limit trials, council road safety strategies, community education programs, safe cycling routes at schools and improved pedestrian crossing safety.

The projects will be aligned with the , which sets ambitious targets to halve road deaths and significantly reduce serious injuries by 2030 and sets the state on a path to zero road deaths by 2050.

Projects that focus on protecting vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists will be prioritised.
