We are through to the next stage in planning a new precinct in Hampton to connect all current community services.
A report was presented to Tuesday’s Ordinary Meeting of Council to provide an overview of the feedback we received during the Hampton Our Place, Planning for People consultation.
The next step will involve preparing the detail for a centralised option, where one facility will see all existing users co-located into one site, including library and community centre programs with space available for additional users and space.
Council will also begin investigating opportunities to partner with the State and Federal governments to deliver a multi-deck commuter car park on Service and Thomas Street, Hampton.
In planning for a new community precinct for Hampton we will also be looking to respond to key topics we head from the community during consultation including;
- How we can strategically respond to issues raised around car parking and congestion;
- Maximising opportunities for the provision of new public open space and locating to integrate with any future facilities;
- Ensuring the future building is of an appropriate scale and design.
There will be further opportunities for community engagement on a more progressed option in early 2020, once Council has appointed a team to prepare the concept design.
