The City of Casey has kicked off works on a new and improved sports pavilion at Robert Booth Reserve in Hampton Park last week.
City of Casey Chair of Administrators Noelene Duff PSM and CEO Glenn Patterson were joined onsite by Premier Daniel Andrews, Narre Warren South MP Gary Maas and members of the Hampton Park Football Netball club to officially mark the occasion.
The $5.4M project, will see cricket, football and netball clubs, as well as the broader local community, benefit from the spacious new two-storey pavilion which features:
- Two unisex AFL and cricket change rooms and amenities,
- Two netball change rooms and amenities
- Community room and social space with commercial kitchen
- First aid room
- Two unisex umpire rooms
- New, more functional canteen
- Generous storage space
- Public toilets and amenities
Noelene Duff PSM said it was great to see this much-anticipated project, which was recommended in the Robert Booth Reserve Master Plan, get underway.
“The existing, aging structure is outdated and no longer meets the needs of these popular sporting clubs and community groups.
“A new and improved pavilion will better support the Hampton Park Football Netball Club and the Hampton Park Cricket Club to provide a better equipped and more welcoming environment for players, members and spectators.
“It will also go a long way to supporting the clubs as they continue encouraging women and girls to participate in sport.
“I look forward to seeing this pavilion create new opportunities for this local community and its much-loved sporting clubs.
“Council would like to thank the State and Federal Governments for their contributions towards the project and for working in partnership with us to deliver this essential community infrastructure.”
Works are expected to be complete in mid-2023.
This project is being jointly funded by Council together with the State and Federal Governments. The State Government contributed $3M through the Local Sports Grants program, and $200,000 from Sport Australia’s Community Sport Infrastructure grant program, with Council funding the remaining $2.24 M.
