It will focus on what governments, institutions and the community should do to prevent, and respond to violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of people with disability.
The Victorian Government welcomes a Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability – particularly as the sector is going through unprecedented change with the introduction of the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Victorians with disability have the right to be treated with respect and dignity – and this government is committed to getting that right. This is why we have sought no reduction in quality and safeguards under the NDIS, why we are introducing a legislated registration and accreditation scheme for disability workers and why we have provided additional advocacy funding to ensure people with disability get the assistance they need.
It’s important Victorians with disability, their families and carers, take part in this public consultation on the Terms of Reference and have their voices heard about the scope of the Royal Commission.
