The Geographical Names Board is seeking community feedback on proposals by Camden Council to name five reserves.
Chair of the Geographical Names Board Narelle Underwood said the proposed names are for reserves located in the suburbs of Camden, Camden South and Mount Annan.
Bill McCall Park is proposed for a reserve located at 1 Selkirk Place Camden South, in commemoration of the late William (Bill) McCall.
Reeves Reserve is proposed for a reserve located at 11 Reeve Place Camden South, in commemoration of Henry Pollock Reeves who was Camden school master from 1850-1880s, Mayor of Camden in 1894 and the designer of the Camden School of Arts Building.
Stoney Range Reserve is proposed for a reserve located at 80A McCall Avenue Camden South, named after a topographical feature located within what is now called Camden Park, an area of 2250 acres granted to John Macarthur.
Engesta Reserve is proposed for a reserve located at 52 Engesta Avenue Camden, named after the street in which it is located. Engesta is the name related to the former company involved in development of the Camden area.
Stockmans Drift is proposed for a reserve located at 35 Burnett Avenue Mount Annan, named to honour the many stockmen that provided support to Governor John Hunter during his time as governor of New South Wales in the late 1700’s.
Mrs Underwood said the board is encouraging community
