Have your say on the draft Clinical Services Plan for Dubbo, Narromine and Wellington

NSW Gov

Communities in western NSW are being invited to have their say on a new draft Clinical Services Plan that will help shape future healthcare delivery in Dubbo, Narromine and Wellington.

Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) Executive Director, Strategic Reform, Planning and Partnerships, Maryanne Hawthorn, said the Plan will help inform the development of health services in Dubbo, Narromine and Wellington over the next decade.

“The draft Clinical Services Plan – or CSP – has been developed in consultation with local staff, communities, and key organisations, as well as using data projections such as population growth and age profiles, to ensure we can continue to meet the unique health needs of communities across western NSW,” Ms Hawthorn said.

“With the draft CSP now developed, we are calling on local communities and staff to tell us what they think of the Plan to help us meet the current and future needs of the community.

“The CSP outlines the strategic intent of WNSWLHD in the development of its clinical services over the next decade to 2033.

“We have a large geographic area, our population is ageing, and our health needs are becoming more complex.”

The draft CSP outlines six future focus areas for the District which include: supporting people to stay well and healthy, enhancing the networked approach to service delivery, shifting the focus to care outside the inpatient setting, better integrated care and coordinated services, timely access to high-quality inpatient hospital care when it’s needed, and culturally-safe and accessible services.

“Implementing these will require a strong workforce, contemporary models of care, partnerships, and fit-for-purpose infrastructure,” Ms Hawthorn said.

“The communities and health services of Dubbo, Narromine, and Wellington already have strong ties, and we have built on that connection by developing an integrated CSP.

“This approach means we can look at how the three sites can work together to provide a range of services that address the needs of the broader western NSW community.”
