Have your say on the future of Culture and Creativity in North Sydney

North Sydney Council

Are there public spaces, such as laneways, plazas or parks, that you think would benefit from arts and creative uses? What kinds of things would you like to see in these spaces? What are the best methods for North Sydney Council to promote cultural and creative programs and activities to reach everyone in the community?

These are just a couple of the crucial questions to be explored at the upcoming Culture and Creativity Community Forum hosted by North Sydney Council next week.

The forum will be live-streamed on North Sydney Council’s YouTube channel, providing the community with an accessible platform to generate discussion and feedback on the future.

Featuring a panel of experts, the forum will address the challenges and opportunities in North Sydney’s future through an insights and evidence-based discussion. The local community is encouraged to tune in and ask questions of the panel via the online platform.

This forum is the last of a series of forums that form part of a broader community consultation campaign, urging residents to “Have your say on our next ten years.” The campaign aims to shape the future of North Sydney across five key focus areas: Culture and Creativity, Economic Development, Integrated Transport, Open Space and Recreation, and Social Inclusion.

Discussion Papers on each focus area have been developed to guide community consultation. These papers highlight the strengths, challenges, and strategic opportunities within the North Sydney LGA, encouraging residents to reflect on the current state, envision the future, and consider the pathways to achieve it. The community is encouraged to read these papers prior to the Culture and Creativity Forum.

Residents, businesses and visitors can also provide feedback by completing an online survey at . Complete the survey to have a chance to win a $100 gift voucher.

Mayor Zoë Baker said, “We want everyone in the North Sydney community to have their say on our next ten years and play a meaningful role in deciding where we want to be and how we’ll get there. Your feedback is crucial in helping us identify our community’s needs and priorities and understanding how we can work together to deliver the outcomes.

“This will be a true partnership between Council and community, and we want everyone to feel empowered to participate in and influence local decision-making. Please have your say on North Sydney’s next ten years and help us create a future that reflects the needs and aspirations of our whole community.”

How will community feedback be used?

The information collected through this consultation will help to identify the needs and aspirations of the North Sydney community over the next ten years and will be used to develop a strategy for each focus area.

These strategies will then be combined to develop Council’s new Community Strategic Plan for 2025-2035 which will outline our shared vision for the future. The strategies will also inform Council’s future Delivery Programs, Operational Plans and Resourcing Strategies, to ensure that Council’s resources are focused on delivering the outcomes needed and wanted by the North Sydney community.
