Have your say on Waterloo Metro Over Station

The community has been invited to have its say on the masterplan and draft planning controls related to the Waterloo Metro station.

A Department of Planning and Environment spokesperson said local input is a vital part of the planning process and encouraged everyone to have their say.

“UrbanGrowth NSW has prepared a State Significant Precinct (SSP) study including draft planning controls for the Waterloo Metro Quarter, which would enable development of up to 700 homes, retail and entertainment facilities close to the new Waterloo Metro Station,” the spokesperson said.

“Advancing the Waterloo Metro Quarter Masterplan will require a comprehensive update of current planning controls. The draft planning controls on exhibition with the SSP Study include new height and Floor Space Ratio controls.

“The plans that have been put forward include detailed studies and will be required to be consistent with the priorities of the Eastern City District Plan.”

Also, on exhibition today is Sydney Metro’s State Significant Development (SSD) application for concept approval of the development over and adjacent to the new Waterloo Metro Station.

“The Department of Planning and Environment will work carefully to assess the draft planning controls and proposed plans for the Waterloo Metro Quarter and will continue to include the City of Sydney on its expert review panel,” the spokesperson said.

“After exhibition closes, the Department will consider all community submissions received on the proposals, along with feedback from other government agencies and councils, as part of the formal assessment process.”
