Have yourSAy on AlertSA

SA Gov

Less than a week remains to share your suggestions to improve South Australia’s key emergency warning platform.

The Alert SA app, managed by the South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM), serves as a state-owned platform to deliver emergency warnings and information to the South Australian community.

Since its launch in December 2019, the app has garnered significant popularity, with over 334,000 downloads, processing of over 11,000 incidents, and delivering over 80 million notifications.

To respond to changes encouraged by the community, SAFECOM aims to enhance or replace the current Alert SA application to provide a “multi-hazard” public information and warnings solution.

Providing information on incidents and warnings that are sourced directly from the SA Country Fire Service (SACFS) and the SA Metropolitan Fire Service (SAMFS), the Alert SA App displays a map and list view – with the list prioritised by closest distance to your device’s location and allows users to create up to 10 watch zones to receive notifications for areas of interest.

The State Government is seeking feedback to gain a deeper understanding of the needs and expectations of our community when it comes to receiving information about current and imminent emergencies.

This feedback will identify opportunities for the new or enhanced application and help SAFECOM develop a roadmap for future enhancements.

You can submit your feedback here:

Submissions close Sunday, July 30.

As put by Nick Champion, Acting Minister for Emergency Services

The community feedback received through yourSAy will help the government in enhancing the current Alert SA platform to a multi hazards public information solution.

Enhancing Alert SA will give members of the public better access to potentially lifesaving information during emergencies.

As put by SAFECOM Chief Executive, Julia Waddington-Powell

The yourSAy survey is an important tool for community members to share their thoughts on what they believe should be included in an enhanced version of the Alert SA application.

It forms a significant part of the development roadmap and ensures that any upgrades made are encompassing of the needs identified by the community.
