Hazard reduction burn Oxley Wild Rivers

The NSW ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Parks and Wildlife Service is currently carrying out a large hazard reduction burn in Oxley Wild Rivers ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Park, about 40 kilometres from Armidale.

The large 6,000 hectare burn is in the Long Point precinct and is being coordinated with neighbours at Hillgrove.

This cool winter burn is aimed at broadscale fine fuel reduction to reduce the risk of damaging wildfire this summer.

Armidale, Hillgrove, Wollomombi, Enmore and Walcha Areas may see smoke in the area for several days as the hazard reduction operation concludes.

All ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Parks and Wildlife Service hazard reduction burns are coordinated with the NSW Rural Fire Service to ensure the impact on the community is assessed at a regional level.
