Hazard reduction burning in Wondoba State Conservation Area

The NSW ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is carrying out hazard reduction burns in Wondoba State Conservation Area near Gunnedah over 4 days from 31 May, weather permitting.

Controlled burn by ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Parks and Wildlife Service and NSW Rural Fire Service

The burns will cover approximately 600 hectares about 15 km south-west of Gunnedah.

Wandobah, Beeson, Goscomb and Milroy Roads may be impacted by smoke depending on the wind. Wandobah Road may be closed for short periods during burn operations.

The burns will create a mosaic of hazard-reduced area across the landscape and reduce fuel loads within Wondoba State Conservation Area.

Visitors should not enter closed areas until they are assessed as safe by NPWS. Visitors can also check for up-to-date information on temporary closures.

All NPWS hazard reduction burns are coordinated with the NSW Rural Fire Service to ensure the impact on the community is assessed at a regional level.
