Hazard reduction burns for Morton ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Park

The NSW ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will undertake two hazard reduction burns in Morton ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Park from Thursday 24 November, weather permitting.

NSW ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), assisted by Rural Fire Service (RFS) and Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW), completing a hazard reduction burn in Berowra Valley ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Park near Hornsby.

The hazard reduction burns are intended to treat a combined 17 hectares of bushland on the southern edge of Fitzroy Falls village.

These burns, along with other recent hazard reduction burns in Morton ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Park, will help to improve protection for properties in the Fitzroy Falls area.

The West Rim and East Rim walking tracks and the Redhills fire trail will be closed for the duration of the burns.

Tracks and trails will be reopened once the area is assessed as safe.

Smoke may be visible in the area. Motorists should use caution when driving on Nowra Road and people vulnerable to smoke are encouraged to remain indoors and keep their doors and windows closed to reduce exposure.
