Work has commenced to upgrade a portion of Heaslip Road, Angle Vale, as Council continues its commitment to improving traffic links across the city.
The road will be upgraded between Angle Vale Road and Woodbridge Drive, making travel safer and easier for people who drive, walk or cycle in the area.
Mayor Glenn Docherty said significant residential growth in Angle Vale had increased activity along the road. The upgrade responds to this growth as well as calls from the community for the road to be improved.
The Heaslip Road upgrade is an important investment in our city’s infrastructure and meets the needs of our growing community.
This is a vital thoroughfare linking Angle Vale to the Northern Expressway and the rest of the northern suburbs. It is also a connection to Trinity College Gawler River and the improvements will support access to the school for students, families and staff.
The project will deliver a new shared-use path, footpath and an upgraded pedestrian crossing. Other key elements include kerbing, stormwater infrastructure and landscaping to enhance the visual amenity of the road.
“It demonstrates our commitment to supporting growth and efficient traffic solutions across our city,” said Mayor Docherty.
The Heaslip Road upgrade is a key project in Council’s 2022/23 Annual Business Plan. The upgrade is jointly funded by the State Government and Council, through the Angle Vale Growth Area Road Infrastructure Deed.
Council is funding the full cost to install the new pedestrian crossing.
Construction is expected to be completed in December 2023.
