We’re seeking community members to help us develop a draft Housing Strategy that will assist in planning for the changing housing needs of our diverse community.
The Housing Strategy will:
- Provide the context of housing trends, issues and policies that impact Nillumbik including local, metropolitan and national matters
- Examine Nillumbik’s existing housing and future housing needs with consideration of matters such as neighbourhood character.
- Set a vision for how Council will address housing needs over the next 15 years
- Provide a Housing Framework Plan that identifies change areas in accordance with State Government planning requirements for the development of housing strategies.
You can help by applying to join the Community Reference Group (CRG), which will provide input at key points as the project proceeds.
Twelve people will be appointed to the group and membership will ideally represent the wide range of housing demand and experience across the Shire’s residential areas.
Expressions of Interest are now open until Wednesday 6 September.
Mayor Ben Ramcharan encouraged community members to apply to join the group, which would reflect the thoughts and needs of Nillumbik’s diverse community.
“This is an important planning strategy for the Shire and follows the development of our draft Neighbourhood Character Strategy,” Cr Ramcharan said.
“The Community Reference Group will provide critical input into the draft, which would then be made available for feedback by the broader community in early 2024.”
