There are many benefits to owning a dog. These furry, four-legged friends make wonderful companions for people of all ages, and provide hours of fun, happiness and unconditional love.
Like everything we own, dogs come with a responsibility. Not only must you walk them on a leash and ensure they are under effective control, but you also must remember to pick up after them.
Not picking up after your dog can be harmful to the environment and an inconvenience to community members who might accidentally ride or walk through it. Failing to pick up after your dog can also have an impact on the health of other animals and people as faeces carries many diseases.
Make sure you carry a bag at all times
The Casey Community Local Law 2018 states that you must always have a bag with you to collect any litter deposited by your dog.
Bags can be tied to your dog’s leash or simply just put in your pocket. You can use biodegradable bags and pooper scoopers, as well as other products that are available to attach to your dog’s leash. We do not have litter bags in our parks and reserves, so please remember to carry one with you at all times.
By picking up after your pet, you are helping to keep our parks and footpaths safer and more pleasant for people and animals alike.
