An Employment Facilitator has been appointed in Tasmania to help people looking for work or training opportunities.
Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash said that Employment Facilitators will play a critical role in our economic recovery.
“I am pleased to announce that Mr James McCormack has been appointed as the successful Employment Facilitator for the region,” Minister Cash said.
Employment Facilitators work with local jobactive providers, employers and training organisations to ensure local job seekers have the skills they need to re-enter the workforce and provide them with opportunities for retraining and further education.
Member for Bass, Mrs Bridget Archer MP, said as we face the challenge of COVID-19 pandemic it’s important than ever before that the services of Employment Facilitators are available to help find local solutions to local labour market challenges.
“Our Employment Facilitator has specific experience and knowledge relevant to our region which will help connect job seekers to businesses that need workers,” Mrs Archer said.
Employment Facilitators have extensive networks across their region and can focus on where there are points of potential collaboration and partnership between stakeholders to create approaches that improve employment outcomes.
Member for Braddon, Mr Gavin Pearce MP, said collaboration, connection and upskilling are critical to getting Australians back into jobs.
“Those within our region are best placed to find solutions and I welcome Mr James McCormack as he helps to connect local jobseekers to employment,” Mr Pearce said.
