Budding cyber professionals will have the opportunity to play their part in protecting the state from cyber risks through the Allan Labor Government’s Cyber Internship Program.
Minister for Government Services Gabrielle Williams today announced that expressions of interest are open for the next round of the program – with previous graduates going on to work in the sector.
The six-month paid internship program will kick off in February – providing a pathway for five interns to gain invaluable, high-demand skills and hands-on experience working on potential cyber threats.
The chosen graduates will have the opportunity to practically apply the skills gain and work alongside cyber security experts, preparing for and responding to cyber security risks.
This year’s internship was a huge success, with all interns completing the program and four moving on to roles within the VPS to progress their career in cyber security.
AustCyber reported in their Cyber Security Sector Competitiveness Plan 2023 the Australian cyber security market is expected to be valued at $5.2 billion by 2030.
Following the success of the 2024 internship, the Labor Government is creating an opportunity for five more Certificate IV in Cyber Security graduates to take the next leap in their cyber career journey.
The Government is delivering the Certificate IV in Cyber Security course as part of its Free TAFE program, which is giving Victorians access to more than 80 Free TAFE qualifications and short courses.
Applications for the program close on Sunday, 3 November 2024. For more information and to apply, go to .
