The Andrews Labor Government is empowering African and Pasifika young people to lead and develop projects that benefit themselves, their community and all Victorians.
Minister for Multicultural Affairs Richard Wynne today opened applications for a new $600,000 grants program responding to issues such as unemployment, health and wellbeing, inclusion and empowerment.
The grants will enable African and Pasifika Victorians between 16 to 25 to design, develop and lead initiatives to address issues they identify as important to their community.
While many African and Pasifika youths are actively involved in the community, others experience barriers to opportunities and services that should be available to all Victorians.
This funding is aimed at increasing the participation of young people of African and Pasifika heritage to lead and deliver projects that make a positive impact and that benefit others in their communities.
The Labor Government’s Youth Policy: Building Stronger Youth Engagement in Victoria outlines a clear focus on providing avenues for boosting youth participation and engaging with young people from all walks of life.
Applications close at midnight on Sunday, 6 October. For more information or to apply, visit .
As stated by Minister for Multicultural Affairs Richard Wynne
