Her Way 2680 Project in consultation phase

Griffith City Council’s Her Way 2680 Project is up and running and currently in the consultation phase.

This collaborative partnership program between Transport for NSW and 10 pilot councils across NSW, including Griffith, will deliver demonstration projects aimed at improving the real and perceived safety for women, girls and gender diverse people when walking or moving to, through and within public spaces and transport hubs.

The Her Way 2680 CBD to Coolah Street Project is being developed through co-design workshops with local women, girls and gender diverse people.

Over the past few weeks, the Her Way 2680 team has been working with various members of the community including, students, stakeholders, the Mayor and Councillors, Transport for NSW and Murrumbidgee Irrigation. They have been involved in Co-Design sessions and “walk-shops”.

Council’s Director Economic & Organisational Development, Shireen Donaldson is encouraging those who live in and use the Coolah Street area to get involved.

“We would love to speak to women, girls and gender diverse people who walk around this area so that we get an accurate account of what they think is needed to improve the spaces,” Ms Donaldson said.

“We’ve received some fantastic feedback already, but please contact Council before June 9 2023 if you are interested in sharing your views.”

Some of the Program’s initiatives may include lighting and smart technology to improve safety and visibility, creating a sense of welcoming to encourage women, girls, and gender diverse people to use public spaces.
