High Range Drink Driver

Police have today charged a 43-year-old woman from Kindred with high range drink driving after she was detected driving over four times the legal alcohol limit.

Approximately 1pm police intercepted a vehicle driving north on Kindred Road at Forth. The driver was found to be a disqualified driver who returned a high range roadside test before being transported to the Devonport Police Station where she returned a breath analysis reading of 0.212.

The woman has been charged with exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit and disqualified driving and will appear in the Devonport Magistrates Court at a later date. The vehicle driven was clamped by police for a 28-day period.

“The actions of the driver today are inexcusable, and it was very fortunate the matter did not result in a serious crash,” said Senior Sergeant Spencer of Ulverstone Police Station.

“Tasmania Police would like to reinforce to the public that police are targeting driving offences on rural roads. Just because you are not on a main road or highway does not mean you will not be detected committing offences such as these.”
