HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP strongly supports the four broad development directions and eight major strategies stated in the “Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Development Blueprint” (The Blueprint). “Science and technology innovation is a critical growth engine for Hong Kong’s development,” she said. “Upholding the result-oriented principle, the Blueprint sets a clear direction for the development of innovation and technology (I&T) in the city, backed by multiple forward-looking and ground-breaking proposals and measures. It demonstrates the government’s vision and determination of steering ahead Hong Kong’s I&T development, and is conducive to securing the trust of the public and support in Hong Kong’s advancement into an international I&T hub.”
Prof Ip added, “HKUST has been dedicated to nurturing talent and promoting scientific research and innovation since its founding. Looking ahead, we will leverage our strength in science and innovation to complement the policies set out in the Blueprint. We will continue to attract and nurture global as well as local talent, collaborate with top-notch universities and scientific research institutions worldwide, enhance our strength in research and innovation, and accelerate commercialization of our discoveries to contribute to the city’s endeavors to becoming an international I&T hub.”
