The health, safety and wellbeing of Tasmanians is the State Government’s number one priority as we continue through the recovery phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Sunday 20 December the Hobart COVID-19 testing clinic at Princes Wharf will move to the old Webster carpark near the corner of Argyle and Melville Street.
Testing will commence at the new site from Monday 21 December.
It removes the testing centre from Hobart’s iconic waterfront, which is a timely move as Tasmanians get out and about more over summer and we welcome back interstate tourists.
The new site is owned by the University of Tasmania and is presently used for car parking and I want to thank the University for making the site available.
The car park will be closed from this Friday 11 December, to allow for the site to be set up for the relocated testing facility. Details of how to access the site as well as the hours of operation will be advertised prior to the move.
Maximising Tasmania’s testing rate is really important to ensure we are continuing to be as COVID safe as possible. We have now delivered more than 132,000 tests – a huge effort and Tasmanians are to be congratulated.
Getting tested should now be routine for anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms, even if those symptoms are mild.
COVID-19 symptoms include:
* fever (or signs of fever, including chills or night sweats)
* runny nose
* cough
* sore/itchy throat
* shortness of breath
* loss of taste or smell.
