³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Schoolies announced

South Australia Government and Fresh FM have partnered to help Year 12 students celebrate the end of their schooling.

³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Schoolies will take place on Saturday, 21 November from 12pm to 8pm. The broadcast event will encourage Year 12 school leavers to request songs and give party safe advice.

State Coordinator and Commissioner of Police, Grant Stevens said graduating year 12 students have worked hard in a year of uncertainty.

“We acknowledge that 2020 has been like no other year and it has affected many major events across the state, the Schoolies celebration is just another one of those,” he said.

“We encourage all those year 12 leavers to celebrate at home this year and ensure they do so in a safe environment.

“Plan well ahead with food and snacks to ensure you don’t risk driving after the party has started when you do not need to – just look out for each other and keep everyone safe.

Police would like to remind all those celebrating not to drink or drug drive, look after your mates if drinking alcohol, ensure people coming to your house are those who have been invited, and contact police on 131444 if there are any situations where police attendance may be required.

Chief Public Health Officer Professor Nicola Spurrier said ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Schoolies hosts should always encourage guests to be COVID Safe.

“Remember to social distance where possible and make sure you observe good food safety practices when handling and preparing food, wash your hands regularly.

“A limit of 50 people per household still applies and it is important you know who has attended a party you host.”

Encounter Youth and their Green Team volunteers will deliver a dispersed schoolies

management response to support young people to celebrate safely.
