Homicide Investigation, Lockyer Valley

Homicide detectives investigating the alleged murder of 49-year-old Upper Lockyer woman Frances Elizabeth Crawford are appealing for public assistance as extensive investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding her death in July.

Emergency crews were initially called to a report of an incident involving a ride on lawn mower on a Thomas Road property in the Lockyer Valley just before 3.40am on July 30.

Mrs Crawford was located deceased by emergency services on the bottom of a retaining wall located in the backyard of the property. Forensic testing and analysis of how Mrs Crawford came to be in that location, remain under investigation.

Following extensive investigations, police believe Mrs Crawford was murdered and investigations are underway by the Crime and Intelligence Command Homicide Group and Gatton Criminal Investigation Branch into the circumstances that lead to her death.

Regional Crime Coordinator Detective Superintendent George Marchesini said several lines of inquiry are currently being examined.

“To uphold the integrity of the investigation we are limited in what details we can disclose, but we are confident there are people out there with information that is significant to our inquiries, and I am asking anyone with information to please come forward and speak with detectives”.

“We are particularly interested in speaking with people who knew of Frances or Robert Crawford and their personal circumstances, including their marriage”.

“We believe there were women who were involved in relationships with Mr Crawford who may have information about Mrs Crawford that will assist with this investigation. Mr Crawford may have met these women on dating applications, and through his personal and professional life”.

“Investigations have revealed Mr Crawford has connected with women in Italy, United States of America, Papua New Guinea, Guam, Afghanistan, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Western Australia, Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory, New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland”.

“The past few months have been extremely challenging for Frances’s family and her children, who are desperate for answers, and it’s time for those with information, no matter how small, to come forward”.

Detectives can confirm a number of people have provided information since our last public appeal and thank those people for their bravery in coming forward.

Anyone with information that can assist with investigations and who had connections with the address or Mrs Frances Crawford or Mr Robert Crawford, as a couple or outside of the marriage, is encouraged to come forward and contact police.
