Homicide Squad detectives release CCTV as they reappeal for information into Fairfield murder – Strike Force Fitzhill

Homicide Squad detectives have released CCTV as they renew their appeal for information into a fatal shooting in Fairfield two years ago.

About 2.40am on Sunday 10 January 2021, emergency services were called to Ware Street, Fairfield, following reports a man had been shot.

Despite efforts to revive the 34-year-old, he died at the scene.

The man has since been identified as Amar Kettule.

Initial inquiries were conducted by officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command, with the matter then referred to the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, who commenced an investigation under Strike Force Fitzhill.

As part of that ongoing investigation, in January 2021, strike force detectives released vision of dark coloured Jeep Cherokee believed to be used in the shooting as part of an appeal for information.

An additional appeal was made in December 2021, when police released further CCTV showing two men they believed could assist with inquiries, and a white Toyota Corolla hatchback.

As inquiries continue, police have released CCTV of a third man seen in the vicinity of Ware Street around the time of the shooting who police believe could assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being of fair complexion, with short dark/black hair, wearing a black jumper with a large white Lacoste logo on the front and dark-coloured shorts.

Homicide Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty, said investigators remain committed to finding answers for the Kettule family.

“Strike Force detectives hope this renewed appeal for information and additional CCTV is going to encourage anyone who may know something about this murder to come forward,” Det Supt Doherty said.

“As investigators continue to follow and exhaust every line of inquiry into Mr Kattule’s death, I want to remind the public that no piece of information is too small. Your tip could be the missing piece of the puzzle in this investigation.”

Anyone with information that may assist investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or . Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
