A lot! And that’s what our trusty maintenance teams have been doing over the past three months.
And it’s not just grass. It’s road grading, street sweeping, pothole fixing and many other maintenance jobs throughout the whole of the Shire.
During one of the wettest winters on record that played havoc with the state of Victoria’s roads, and then a hot summer that contributed to high vegetation growth rates, we’ve heard from our community about the need to maintain our beautiful Peninsula.
We heard and we’ve acted. The Shire is a huge area and the maintenance numbers below illustrate this.
In the 2022 October – December quarter:
We cut 18,420,498m² grass/vegetation
We maintained 41,747m² garden beds
We cleaned 6,317 drainage pits
We cleaned 219km of beaches
We swept 3,338m of streets
We graded 422km of unsealed roads
We filled 5,750 potholes
So if you see one of our teams out and about, give them a wave as they go about their business – the business of keeping the Peninsula looking good.
And if you see something that needs some attention, report it so we can fix it at soon as possible:
Quotes attributable to Mayor – Cr Steve Holland
“I’ve received a lot of community correspondence about maintenance issues across the Peninsula. I hope the numbers and volumes featured in our quarterly report give our community a high level of assurance that our teams are out and about working hard to keep the Peninsula in top shape.”
“If you see something that needs our attention, please report it directly to the Council via our website or official customer service channels.
