How To Vote In Kempsey Shire Local Government Elections

The Local Government elections are fast approaching – and it’s time to start thinking about when and how to vote for the Shire’s newest batch of Councillors.

Voting is compulsory, with a failure to vote resulting in a penalty. To make voting as simple as possible, the Electoral Commission offers postal voting, early voting or pre-polling, as well as a range of locations to vote at on election day.

To submit your vote by mail, by Monday 9 September, and then after you vote, your completed ballot papers and postal vote certificate must be received by the NSW Electoral Commission by 6pm on Friday 27 September 2024.

You can check your eligibility to vote by mail, as well as download an application form or apply online on the .

Voters also can also at two locations in Kempsey Shire: the Kempsey Anglican Church and the South West Rocks CWA rooms. Both of these venues are also voting places on election day.

The church is fully wheelchair accessible, and both venues open at 8:30am daily from Saturday 7 September until Friday 13 September. There is no voting at any venue on Sunday, 8 September.
