Wimmera Trophies and Gifts is one of the latest successful applicants for the Horsham Rural City Council’s COVID-19 Support grants.
With local sporting competitions halted as a result of the pandemic, Wimmera Trophies and Gifts owner Greg Schwarz said his usual demand for trophies had vanished.
“It’s a big aspect of our business. And now we’re going to have to wait until the end of the next sporting season before we see that demand again. So we’re taking the opportunity to venture into different products,” he said.
Wimmera Trophies and Gifts will use its funding to invest in a specialised printing press.
“We’ll be able to offer photo murals, oversized prints, full coloured sashes, even personalised bar mats and puzzle sets. We’re also going to invest some of the funding into our online presence to help really push this new aspect of our business,” Mr Schwarz said.
“We’d like to thank the Council for their foresight to offer this help throughout COVID.”
The COVID-19 Support grants are open to all businesses in the municipality, individuals and community organisations to help them prepare, respond and build resilience to the pandemic.
Applications are in three streams – Stronger Business, Recreation and Community Recovery, and Arts and Events Activation.
To ensure support is available when needed, applications will be assessed and approved monthly until March 2021, or until funding is fully allocated.
