The Regional Youth Advisory Committee (RYAC) is seeking up to 13 committee members to provide recommendations and advice to Council regarding issues or projects effecting the local youth sector.
Committee members will directly influence and implement the Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) Youth Strategy 2025-2030 and subsequent Youth Action Plan.
Individuals that currently represent and work with young people, particularly those with experience in employment, disability, health, community development, education, child protection, youth justice, police and emergency services are encouraged to apply.
The TRC Community Development, Facilities and Tourism portfolio spokesperson and RYAC committee chair Cr James O’Shea said it was more important than ever to form a committee devoted to advocating for our community’s youth.
“Almost a quarter of our community is persons aged 0-17, based on the last Census data. This is a large portion of our community, so we need to ensure we are taking care of their interests. Our youth have been experiencing a multitude of issues as of late, and we need to be doing anything we can to help,”
“Committee members will need to be passionate about supporting our youth as they will have the opportunity to directly impact their outcomes,” said Cr James O’Shea.
Successful applicants will commence their role in May 2025 until December 2027. Committee meetings will convene quarterly on the second Thursday of the month.
Expressions of interest closes 5pm on Friday 24 January 2025.
