I Choose SA finds new home with Food South Australia

The state’s peak industry body for the food and beverage sector, Food South Australia is now leading I Choose SA for in relation to food and beverage in the state-wide campaign that promotes and supports local produce.

Food South Australia has strongly supported I Choose SA since its inception, and Chief Executive Catherine Sayer said the campaign is an obvious fit with Food South Australia’s commitment to supporting the South Australian food and beverage industry by helping grow their markets, capabilities and connections.

“Consumers are very loyal to the many fantastic food and beverage brands we have in South Australia, and I Choose SA is a great way for brands to gain recognition here before moving into interstate and overseas markets,” Ms Sayer said.

“South Australian food and beverage businesses value the support they receive through the campaign by being clearly identified on supermarket shelves as local.”

Launched in August 2016, the I Choose SA campaign is instrumental in helping South Australians recognise local products on supermarket shelves and local businesses.

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, David Ridgway said I Choose SA helps support jobs in South Australia by encouraging shoppers to buy local and support the state’s producers, manufacturers, service providers, retailers and businesses.

“Under the leadership of CEO Catherine Sayer, Food South Australia will act as a liaison between the food and beverage industry and retailers, ensuring value for all within the food and beverage sector and aligning with our government’s goal of encouraging industry to take the lead in developing their sectors,” Mr Ridgway said.

“Food South Australia is the ideal organisation to further develop the food and beverage sector, so I’m pleased they have taken the lead in managing I Choose SA.

Ms Sayer said Food South Australia is keen to work with all distribution channels supporting the industry by keeping South Australian products top of mind with customers all year round.

South Australian business, Kytons Bakery, has been a part of the state’s food culture for 81 years.

General Manager of Kytons Bakery Sharon Sutton said the I Choose SA campaign has been great for her business.

“It has helped South Australians who want to support local businesses like ours, to identify which businesses are based right here in South Australia,” Ms Sutton said.

“This helps support jobs for South Australians and jobs for generations to come – and that is so important if we want to grow our state’s economy.

“It has also helped to educate South Australian consumers and to tell the story of our brand – I rarely get asked about whether Kytons is South Australian these days.”

All South Australian businesses can apply to use the State Brand or I Choose SA. Businesses that are already registered can continue to use the State Brand or I Choose SA campaign.
