New playgrounds have opened at six of Bayside’s most popular parks.
Playgrounds are now ready for play at Basterfield Park North, N.G Wishart Reserve, William Street Reserve, Gypsy Village Park, Lakeside Green/Elsternwick Park South and Brighton Beach Oval.
The new playgrounds encourage fun and interactive sensory play allowing children of all abilities to play together. New features include wheelchair accessible merry go rounds and musical instruments offering a unique way to stimulate creativity.
Council engages young people to participate in the development of playground upgrades. Known as Playground Testers, they join other park users and residents in community consultation at the start of Council’s planning process.
Council has invested $10 million to upgrade all 61 playgrounds in Bayside over 10 years to ensure they meet contemporary community needs and expectations particularly around visibility and accessibility.
Since 2015 we have upgraded 27 of Bayside’s 61 playgrounds via (2015-25).
