IAG confirms Intermediated Insurance Australia Leadership Team
IAG has confirmed its Intermediated Insurance Australia (IIA) Leadership Team, with the announcement of the final two appointments.
Darren O’Connell will join IAG as Executive General Manager (EGM) Underwriting IIA and Christa Marjoribanks has been permanently appointed as EGM Product Pricing and Governance.
IAG Group Executive IIA Jarrod Hill said the completion of the team was an important step in continuing to grow IAG’s Intermediated Australia division and to meet its insurance profit target of at least $250 million by FY24.
“We are dedicated to continuing to provide our partners and brokers with the best possible products, services and support in line with our growth strategy, and I’m thrilled with the team we have in place to do this,” Mr Hill said.
“As we look ahead, we have clearly stated our plans to grow our top line premium and most importantly our bottom-line margin in the Intermediated Australia division.
“Underwriting and pricing excellence are at the centre of delivering on both these goals.”
Since commencing in the role of Group Executive IIA in September last year, Mr Hill has been leading IAG’s work to consolidate its product set and the continuing improvement of its pricing and portfolio management capability.
“My priority was to establish a dedicated Underwriting Office for IIA to drive a step change in our underwriting,” Mr Hill said.
Mr O’Connell commences in the role of EGM, IIA Underwriting on 1 February 2022. He joins IAG from Suncorp where he led the commercial and intermediated portfolio, responsible for pricing, and profitable growth strategies.
“Darren is a strategic thinker, trusted coach and mentor, and someone who likes the challenge of building and sustaining growth. I know he will help us achieve our plans and shares our vision on what we can deliver for our partners, customers and our business,” Mr Hill said.
Ms Marjoribanks, who joined IAG as a consultant from PwC in early 2020, has been Acting EGM, Product Pricing and Governance for IIA since late 2020. She will move into the role permanently this month.
“Over the past 12 months, Christa has been a key member of the IIA leadership team and has been closely involved in setting up our Division. She has been instrumental in uplifting pricing practices and governance,” Mr Hill said.
“I am excited to welcome Darren to IAG and to congratulate Christa on her appointment. We have a lot to do, and I am excited about what we will achieve together to realise our plans for profitable growth.”
