IAG helping customers impacted by severe storms and floods across Eastern and South Australia
IAG, whose brands include NRMA Insurance, CGU and WFI is on the ground supporting customers impacted by severe weather including storms, heavy rainfall and flooding across parts of the country this week.
Our teams are on the ground in the affected areas, assessing the damage to our customers’ properties and conducting emergency Make Safe repairs where required.
Since Friday 24th November 2023, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms have impacted eastern Australia with the weather system first affecting parts of South Australia and Victoria. Notably, the areas of Naracoote, South Australia and Torquay, Victoria experienced flooding due to heavy rainfall.
Severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall systems have continued to move across New South Wales and southeast Queensland, causing significant flooding on the New South Wales South Coast.
The NSW SES has received more than 1,200 calls for help across the state, with over 1,000 incidents of storm damage reported. It currently has a watch and act warning in place, urging people not to enter floodwaters around low-lying areas of Lake Conjola.
Our Property Claims Consultants are also on standby to move into our NRMA Insurance branches in Ulladulla, Vincentia and Bega to provide face-to-face support for our customers and the community if required.
Luke Gallagher Executive General Manager Claims NRMA Insurance said:
“It’s storm season which means everyone needs to closely monitor weather alerts as severe weather can appear at short notice, and especially, stay safe.
“The storms over the past few days have impacted many parts of the east coast, as well as South Australia and we urge any of our customers who have experienced damage to their vehicle or property to contact us immediately and lodge a claim so we can provide immediate help.
The easiest way to lodge your claim is online or via the NRMA Insurance app. We’ll provide immediate assistance and start the process of assessing the damage once it’s safe to do so.
