We have a dedicated Major Event Response Team in place 24/7, who work closely with our in-house Natural Perils team to ensure we’re well prepared to respond to the impacts of severe weather events and provide immediate support for our customers.
Our Natural Perils team has been closely monitoring the system, which at present remains a Category 1 however is forecast to re-intensify and cross the coast as a Category 2. It is expected to continue tracking west toward the Queensland coast and make landfall in the vicinity of Cairns and Port Douglas early Wednesday. Damaging winds are expected to impact areas between Townsville, Cape Melville and potentially as far inland as Palmerville.
Safety must remain the number one priority for North and Far North Queensland communities. It’s critical that residents continue to monitor weather alerts, information from the emergency authorities and follow any evacuation orders.

“IAG’s Partner Repairers and Assessors have also been briefed and are mobilising their teams to the wider region which is expected to be impacted, and will be on the ground in the affected communities once it’s safe to do so.
