Improvements Planned For Lansdowne Road

MidCoast Council

From late September to December, MidCoast Council will be working on Lansdowne Road in Melinga and Coopernook.

The two latest road improvement projects on Lansdowne Road are part of ongoing rehabilitation works between Kundle Kundle and Coopernook. The work will result in important road safety improvements along this busy commuter route.

The first location is Lansdowne Road, Melinga, starting from the intersection of Upper Lansdowne Road and Station Street down to the intersection of Dawson Street and Melinga Quarry access road. Work is expected to start at the end of September and will last around three months.

It includes work on drainage, road widening, culvert widening, improving the road surface, spray sealing and line marking.

The second location is Lansdowne Road between High Street and Emmo Lane, Coopernook.

Construction is scheduled to start in early October 2024 and will last for three months.

The project involves road safety and drainage improvements, including road widening, installation of guardrails, concrete dish drains, road surface improvements, spray sealing and line marking.

In both locations, sections of the road will be reduced to one lane during works. Please slow down when approaching the construction area and follow directions from traffic controllers. The duration of works at both locations will depend on the weather.

These works are part of Council’s 2024-25 Capital Works Program and are funded by a $6,228,000 grant from Transport for NSW’s Regional Roads and Transport Recovery Package.

MidCoast Council manages the second largest road network in NSW. Managing such a large network with a relatively small population requires investing limited funds wisely. During the 2024-25 financial year, $68 million has been allocated for transport infrastructure assets such as roads, bridges, drainage, and footpaths. In addition, Council collaborates with the State and Federal Government to secure grant funding, specifically for enhancing the roads that connect our communities.
