Work is underway to upgrade and modernise learning spaces at Havenview Primary School, as part of the Rockliff Liberal Government’s $10 million contemporary classrooms program.
Minister for Education, Children and Youth, Roger Jaensch, said we know the physical learning environment has an impact on student access, engagement and participation in learning, and that is why we are giving our young people the education facilities they need to thrive.
“The works at Havenview, totalling $820,000, include modernising a general learning area and meeting spaces within the existing building, as well as constructing an outdoor learning space, improving indoor/outdoor access, and updating lighting and the fire safety system,” Minister Jaensch said.
“We are also supporting local jobs during constructions, with Devonport firm MeadCon undertaking the work, which began in July and is expected to be completed in October.”
The contemporary classrooms program was a 2021 election commitment the Rockliff Liberal Government, with 12 schools across Tasmania receiving upgrades.
