Improving mobile connectivity in Warrnambool and Melton

The Victorian Government is improving mobile connectivity for thousands of premises across Victoria with investments in upgrades and new infrastructure builds.

Through Connecting Victoria, the Government is investing $300 million to better mobile coverage at about 1,000 sites across the state.

The first sites to be announced are Melton on the outskirts of Melbourne and Warrnambool on the Great South Coast. The Victorian Government is partnering with Optus to upgrade mobile stations from 4G to 5G in Warrnambool, and with Optus and TPG Telecom to build new and upgrade existing stations in Melton.

The new and upgraded infrastructure will cover more than 435 square kilometres and benefit more than 49,000 premises. Suburbs covered will include Allansford, Dennington, Warrnambool, Brookfield, Cobblebank, Aintree, Weir Views, Exford, Melton South and Toolern Vale.

Victorians living, working and holidaying in these areas will benefit from improved mobile connectivity as the upgrades are carried out between 2023 and 2026.

This investment in new and upgraded infrastructure will deliver better mobile services where they are needed most, helping to grow businesses, create jobs and connect more Victorians to loved ones.

More Connecting Victoria projects in locations across the state will be announced throughout 2022. To keep up to date, visit:
