The Tasmanian Government is committed to supporting the State’s sport and recreation sector as we recover and rebuild from COVID-19.
I am delighted to announce that our $10 million Improving the Playing Field fund will be open for applications this coming Monday 13 July.
Funds for the program will be allocated as $5 million each year in 2020-21 and 2021-22.
Under the program, grants of between $25,000 and $250,000 will be considered for local councils, sporting associations and clubs for the building of new facilities and upgrades of existing amenities Eligible projects include change rooms, toilets and shower facilities, accessibility, lighting, security, fencing, scoreboards, drainage and other civil construction works.
The Improving the Playing Field fund will build on the Government’s existing significant sporting grants programs including our recently announced $2 million COVID-19 Sports and Recreation Grants Program designed to maintain and support employment and continuity across sporting codes as competition recommences around the State.
Importantly, this investment will support Tasmania’s building and construction sector and help support and create local jobs.
Today I was delighted to be joined by Sorell Mayor Kerry Vincent at Pembroke Park, which received $630,000 in Government funding for vital upgrades as part our 2018-19 Levelling the Playing Field grants program.
