Indecent Dealing Incidents In Canning Vale And Thornlie

Child Abuse Squad detectives are seeking information regarding incidents in Canning Vale on Sunday 14 April 2024 and in Thornlie on Saturday 20 April 2024, in which children were approached by an unknown male person.

The first incident, on Sunday 14 April 2024, occurred on Waterperry Drive in Canning Vale sometime between 5:00pm and 6:30pm. An unknown male person riding a bicycle approached an 11-year-old boy and engaged the child in an inappropriate conversation of a sexual nature. The boy went home and disclosed the incident to his family.

The male involved is described as being fair skinned, 16-20 years old and was wearing what is believed to be a black Calvin Klein hoody, black fingerless gloves and had what appears to be tattoos on his neck and one of his wrists.

The second incident, on Saturday 20 April 2024, occurred on Lakeside Drive in Thornlie sometime between 5:30pm and 6:00pm. An unknown male person riding a bicycle approached an 11-year-old girl, exposed himself to her and engaged in an inappropriate conversation of a sexual nature. The girl reported the incident to her family.

The male involved is described as being fair skinned and 17-18 years old.

Given the close proximity of the incidents, the similar circumstances and similar description of the male person involved, it is being investigated whether the two incidents are linked.
