An was conferred upon Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Stirling during a visit with Flinders University’s valued partner Amity University, in Noida, India.
The honour is awarded to eminent academics and administrators who are driving notable academic institutions to greater heights. It is presented during Amity’s annual International World Summit event.
Professor Stirling is joined on the India delegation by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Robert Saint, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) Sebastian Raneskold and Director International Recruitment Matt Schultz.
While in the country, the Flinders team will take part in the Australia-India Business Exchange delegation, led by Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Simon Birmingham over 24 to 28 February.
The visit to India represents Flinders University’s largest and most senior delegation to the region. The packed schedule is providing the opportunity to build on Flinders’ valuable Indian partnerships and forge new connections for the benefit of research, education and student motility in both countries.
A new agreement was forged with Chitkara University in India’s northern Punjab region, sealed by the planting of a symbolic tree to represent the relationship’s future growth. The partnership will establish a Flinders-Chitkara scholarship and explore areas of research and educational collaboration and opportunities for students.
A ‘Flinders Corner’ was opened at the university to give students a taste of life at Flinders and share its key strengths, with a similar initiative launched at valued southern India partner, Manipal University.
The Flinders team is taking advantage of the whirlwind tour to catch up with valued collaborators and build relationships with agencies and university partners across the country.
