Indoor Cricket All Year Round

VIC Premier

Cricketers in Melbourne’s north can look forward to honing their skills and smashing sixes at the new Hume Indoor Cricket Centre, backed by the Allan Labor Government.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today joined Hume City Council Mayor, Cr Jarrod Bell, Cricket Victoria and Greenvale Kangaroos Cricket Club to officially open the Centre at Greenvale Recreation Reserve, backed by $1.5 million from the Labor Government.

With Australia’s recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy test win against India and the return of the Women’s Ashes to the hallowed turf of the MCG, cricket is front and center in the hearts and minds of Victorians right now.

The indoor centre means year-round opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to develop their skills through community and competitive programs, tournaments and camps.

The venue will cater for the growing cricketing community in the local area by supporting players to take their batting, fielding and bowling skills to the next level.

Hume City Council contributed $9.4 million towards the purpose-built facility.

Since 2014 the Labor Government has invested more than $2.3 billion to deliver world class community sport infrastructure that allows people to play the sport they love, near where they live.

As stated by Member for Greenvale Iwan Walters

“This is a major boost for our booming cricket community who now have world class facilities to enjoy playing the sport they love, closer to home.”
